SUB : VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION BY OUR EMPLOYEES

Blood Saves lives. Every day thousands of lives can be saved if people come forward to donate blood.

Supreme Court has banned selling blood by professional blood donors and has instructed that all blood banks should be licenced. There is a large gap between the demand and supply of blood in our country. As against an estimated annual demand of 8 million units only 4 million units are collected.

Our bank is in the forefront in voluntary blood donation for more than 3 decades. It has gained appreciation from many hospitals, NGOs and public for this noble service. Our employees donate about 5000 units of blood every year across the country. There is good scope to increase this number to 10000 units per year.

As per existing guidelines (Please refer Circular No. 246/99 dt. 15-11-1999 , 179/98 dt. 22-07-1998 , 75/97 dt.15-04-1997, 274/90 dt. 11-09-1990), the Voluntary Blood Donor employees are extended certain facilities whenever they donate blood at their place of work. We are pleased to inform you that these facilities are also extended to those employees who are donating blood at a centre other than their place of work with certain improvement. The details are furnished herebelow.
